Border color is important. A frame of wood or metal should not distract from your work. The same consideration should be given to mat color, if you choose to use one. Depth of the framing is a consideration. For protection against moisture and mold growth, your work should not touch the glass. Use a deeper case with works like punch needle or silk ribbon embroidery. Glass is not necessary but your display will be exposed to dust and possible mildew.
